MW | Real Unreal | Eco No My

MW | Real Unreal | Eco No My

One of several signs I made for The Real Unreal Alleyway. Situated atop the work of the talented Ben Ortega.

Sometimes I care too much about semantics, but I’m interested in the words we use and how they can be misconstrued.

I’m also interested in how privilege and time effect your understanding of a word or phrase (social etymology).

While I was making this piece, I was focused on new phrases in economics, speculative systems, trans-humanist experiments, and layered textures.

Oh, and I had just read the short story “Standard Loneliness Package” by Charles Yu (I reccomend).

Each one of these organic shapes can be seen as a sign within a sign. Discounted Space and Economical Use.

This was also an experimentation with lenticular printing, to incorporate a moving image and a subtle interactivity in an affordable way.

I like making things that 12 year old me would have been mesmerized by. I think this is one of those things.
