“negate” is a series of paintings that utilizes the accessibility of cell phone technology create a perspective shift and to present the lens as the view finder that it is.

A series of instructions accompany the paintings that lead viewers to alter their accessibility settings on their phones to reveal a mediated image.

The works are made from scanned VHS covers, that were put on transparency and used for cyanotypes. The cyanotypes were then painted in inverted color schemes with watercolor and gouache to highlight the image and the shift from an intentionally uncomfortable one.
